Reservoirs in Kaprun.
A world wonder of technology, in harmony with landscape and nature. “Kaprun” with the adventure world “Electricity and ice” is one of the top destinations in Austria.
Excursion Description
By taxi we drive from Saalbach to Kaprun and further into the valley to the restaurant Kesselfall-Alpenhaus.
Public buses take you to the valley station of the Lärchwand–Inclined elevator, one of the largest of its kind in Europe and is still indispensable for the operation of the power plant due to the lack of road connections.
From the mountain station you continue with buses to Mooserboden (2,040 m above sea level) – through tunnels, past the Limbergsperre and along the reservoir Wasserfallboden.
On the Mooserboden you can enjoy the magnificent view of the glaciers of the rear Kapruner valley in the Hohe Tauern National Park, hike over the Moosersperre to the visitor center “Erlebniswelt Strom und Eis” or take part in the dam wall guidance, where you can learn more about the inner life of the dams and the measures Become familiar with building safety.
